How do I access electronic resources from off campus?

All users must authenticate to subscription resources when connecting from off-campus. Currently, authentication is based on your Library credentials, but we hope you'll be able to log in with your portal credentials by the end of fall 2019. How long does it take to get items requested via ILL?

Articles and electronic materials usually arrive within 1-4 days
Books and physical items usually arrive within 4-10 days depending on the location of the lending/supplying library and type of material.
Requests for popular and rare items may take much longer to obtain

Where can I print?

  • Printers and copiers are located in the Library computer lab, on the library's main floor, and on the second floor of the library. 
  • All print jobs sent to the Papercut printer may be securely released from ANY copiers on campus.
  • To physically log on to a copier, you may swipe your ID card OR you may type your ID number at the copier.  (Your ID must be entered in the form of a 7-digit number with leading zeroes if applicable.)

Can I renew my books online?

Yes!

Go to: https://ferrum.bywatersolutions.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-user.pl

You can either:

  1. Select the drop down box for local login.
    1. Enter your username and password you set up with library staff in KOHA.
  2. OR Login with your Ferrum ID, which will take you through the single sign-on process. 

Items checked out to you will be on your KOHA dashboard. 

Renew items. Note: some items cannot be renewed online.

May I check out a laptop?

Yes! The library has Chromebooks available to check out. The devices are available at the service desk, and circulate for three days.

There is a $5/day fine for any Chromebooks returned late.

What equipment does the library have for patrons to check-out?

The Library also has scientific calculators, camcorders, Wii games/console, iPads, DVD players, and digital projectors that can be checked out. Overdue fines are $5/day on equipment.

Who do I contact with questions or problems with interlibrary loan (ILL)?

How much does ILL cost?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is free.

However, there are fees for damaged or lost items. 

For damaged materials, the amount varies. 

For lost items, the lending/supplying library will determine the cost associated with replacement at their discretion.

What is the circulation period for items received via ILL?

Loan periods are established by the lending library but generally range from 4-8 weeks.  Due dates display on the book straps or stickers on the front of borrowed books.
Electronic copies are forwarded to your email with a link and password.  Articles will expire after 30 days.  Download the files to your computer for continued access.
